“........that you can’t prove how fast Chief Deputy Perdock was going, just doesn’t pass the smell test. Whatever his exact speed, it was obviously and indisputably way too fast. It was recklessly fast.

It was fatally fast. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it.

Attorney Ryan Werner

“All we have are estimates, guesses and speculation.

We cannot prove the speed of the motorboat.”

District Attorney Jon Hopkins

Russell Perdock:

“I don't believe the speed at which I was going was unsafe. It was not fast. I have done that more times than I could count.

Hit this Sailboat at 45mph, on a MOONLESS NIGHT,and killed Lynn Thornton,

the D.A. charged the SAILBOAT DRIVER with HOMICIDE !

How LAKE COUNTY turned TRAGEDY into TRAVESTY

ABCs of the California Boating Law:

“In restricted visibility, motorboats should have the engines ready for immediate maneuvering.

An operator should be prepared to stop the vessel

within the space of half the distance of forward visibility.”

“Mr. Perdock was operating his 24 foot Baja Outlaw powerboat ....... and by his admission was traveling at 40 to 45 miles per hour His boat ramped over the starboard gunwale striking Lynn Thornton, fatally injuring her. His boat continued over the top of the sailboat, exiting over the port bow into the water.”
